One Question. Five Families. And Thrive was Born.

Thrive Est. September 2019

This one question started it all - Where should I send my child to school to best prepare him or her for his or her future?

None of us could have imagined the angst that went along with this question and making the decision. Should I send my child to public school? Can I afford private school? What about a charter school?

Some of us chose public, some chose charter, and some chose private school. However, we all soon realized no matter which type of school is chosen, African American youth face racial biases, discipline disparities, and have greater academic achievement gaps than their peers in school. The question then became, how can we equip our children and other African American youth to navigate through the challenges they may face in school? In response, five families joined together and formed Thrive, to empower African American youth for success during their grade school years.
