Mission

Thrive is a non-profit family organization committed to empowering African American youth and their families through educational programming, cultural exposure and community partnerships.

Building Community

Founded in Durham, NC, Thrive aims to build community amongst families with African American youth. The organization plans educational programs and provides resources for families which help youth thrive academically, emotionally, and socially throughout their Pre-K – Grade 12 learning years.

Investing in our youth is investing in our future.

Our Three Key Objectives

Educational Programming

Educational Programming

Educational Programming

For youth to be prepared for their futures, we understand their education must extend beyond the classroom. Thrive families plan engaging, educational youth programs which provide additional skills to help them grow academically, emotionally, and socially. We also share resources with families to support academic achievement.

Cultural Exposure

Educational Programming

Educational Programming

We believe it is important for youth to understand their African American history and the richness of the African American culture. Therefore, Thrive families expose youth to a variety of cultural activities such as African Dance and Black History tours.  Thrive plans family field trips for our families to share experiences together.

Community Partnerships

Community Partnerships

There are numerous non-profits and local organizations which offer resources and services to help families and the community. However, many families are not aware of these resources. Thrive partners with local organizations to share these resources with families and to serve the greater community.
